About This Route
Alpine Lakes Wilderness around Stevens Pass, PCT miles 2390-2420 in Washington Section H, boasts prime fishing at Lake Susan Jane, Surprise Lake, and streams with brook trout and cutthroat. Side trails from the PCT lead to these spots; permits via self-registration at trailheads. Popular with thru-hikers using ultralight setups, as noted in Reddit PCT threads. No campfires above 5,000 feet per USFS; observe Leave No Trace by burying waste 6-8 inches deep.
