About This Route
The Tricorner Knob Loop is a 30-mile premier backpacking circuit in GSMNP's remote northeast, linking Cosby to Cataloochee via Tricorner Knob Shelter, Hannah Mountain, and Maddron Bald Trails. Features grassy balds, historic CCC structures, and solitude. Start at Cosby Campground; 4-5 days ideal. Permits via recreation.gov; low use areas mean self-reliance.
