About This Route
North Rim's North Kaibab Trail beckons shaded, lush trail runners with this 8-mile round-trip to Supai Tunnel (4 miles each way, 2,000 feet descent). From 8,250 feet through aspen groves and Roaring Springs Canyon, it's cooler than South Rim counterparts. Water at major stops; ideal for high-country speedwork amid ponderosa pine. NPS notes remoteness demands self-reliance.
Safety Considerations
Cooler but thunderstorms rage; bail pre-noon. Bears active; bear canister advised. Steep Manzanita section slips; slow technical. Dehydration sneaky in dry air; 4L minimum. NPS: 6ft edge rule, yield uphill.
