About This Route
The Highline Trail from Logan Pass to Granite Park Chalet covers 7.6 miles one-way with minimal gain on exposed alpine ledges, a bucket-list for advanced runners chasing epic Continental Divide views. Shuttle back via NPS; extreme exposure makes NPS strongly discourage running.
Safety Considerations
Goats and bighorn sheep charge; keep distance. Mountain goats have gored runners. Grizzlies roam meadows; yell continuously. Sheer drop-offs (Garden Wall) risk fatal falls; no running near edges. High winds, hail possible; NPS reports 50mph gusts. Acclimatize to 6,600ft. Use alltrails.com for real-time conditions.
Essential Gear
Ice axe if snowy; Altra Lone Peak shoes for rocky terrain. Helmet optional for rockfall.
Emergency Tips
Fall? Prevent further injury, signal with mirror. Logan Pass has visitor center.
