About This Route
Bearhat Mountain's Northeast Ridge is a Glacier National Park classic, a 5.6 alpine rock climb starting from Hidden Lake Overlook. The 8-pitch route ascends featured dihedrals and ramps on quartzite, topping out at 8,670 feet with panoramic views of Hidden Lake and the Garden Wall. Approach 2 miles via maintained trail, scrambling to the ridge. Popular since the 1960s, per NPS climbing logs; obtain free backcountry permit at Logan Pass if overnighting.
