About This Route
Spanning 13 kilometers from Tengboche Monastery (3,860m) to Dingboche (4,410m), this run traverses exposed ridges, crosses the Imja Khola, and climbs through potato fields with views of Lhotse Shar and Island Peak. A key EBC segment, it's runnable for fit athletes post-Namche acclimatization, per Khumbu Himal guides.
Safety Considerations
Avalanche risk peaks in spring on upper slopes; stick to main trail. Extreme UV demands full coverage. Hydrate aggressively (4-5L); caffeine worsens AMS. Wind chill drops temps to -10C; layer smartly. Past incident: Runner hypothermic near Pangboche in 2021 after wet gear failure.
Essential Gear
Altra Lone Peak for wide trails. Gregory 2L bladder. Smartwool socks, Rab Kinetic pants, The North Face Summit jacket. Komperdell poles, MSR Lightning Ascent microspikes, ACR ResQLink beacon.
